Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (BSEDC) is a Govt. of Bihar undertaking, primarily responsible for growth and development of electronics and information technology industries within Bihar. BSEDC also provides information and expert services to government departments and public in general in all domains of electronics and IT.

Key Challenges

Bihar government identified the need for a technology solution for efficient judicial system in the state. 6 Central Jails, 32 District Jails and 15 Sub Jails and courts were required to be connected for real time access of information and judiciary processes. The proposed Modernization of Prison-Security (MOP) was to be used for security, monitoring, network access and availability within and outside the jail premises, audio/video conferencing between prison and court and recording of proceedings.

Project included supply, installation, implementation, commissioning, operations and maintenance of Network and other passive equipments across 53 jails of Bihar on BOOT basis for a period of 5 years.

Spanco delivered the desired solution despite challenges faced during implementation like unavailability of RAW power, security issues and frequent movement in and out of jails.

Solution offered

Spanco's solution involved Network Integration to connect every prison with courts and judiciary headquarters. This network is the backbone of the Security and Surveillance system, Video Conferencing, and Voice, Video and Data transfer.

The following approach was followed for delivery of solution:

Supply, installation, configuration and commissioning of equipments & services.

Site Preparation for commissioning and operation of surveillance system including cabling for IP Cameras

Integration to the IP camera Network

Supply of Network Equipment, Managed Switch for LAN, Structured cabling (CAT 6) Passive components, UPS and Gensets
