Client Profile
The Manpower Planning Directorate is responsible for policy making, planning and maintaining data pertaining to all officers in the Indian Army. It is divided into Sub-Directorates, which operate in co-ordination with each other to ensure smooth and efficient functioning. The Ministry of Defense wanted automation of the headquarters of the Directorate in New Delhi.
Key Challenges
The project involved application software development, networking and supply of hardware and commercial software components. The proposed solution also included post-implementation support and system maintenance. Spanco was also responsible for capturing and cleansing the existing data, which was to be fed into the system after being thoroughly tested for correctness and consistency.
The following challenges were involved:
Timely availability of temporary gate passes.
Availability of Test Data as only MP6 Data was available for testing. Rest of the module could not be tested with historical data.
Resumption of digitization work after the existing vendor backed off.
65% of the digitization was to be completed by 30th June, 2009.
100% completion of data digitization and acceptance by the end of August.
Acceptance of the application by end of June.
Solution offered
Following activities were carried out to deliver the proposed solution:
GAP analysis, using existing documents and by interacting with the directorate users, in order to capture the exact user requirements.
Procurement, installation and commissioning of equipments and COT components.
Procurement of networking media and equipments and integration of the network.
Operation, maintenance, up-gradation of equipment/network and provisioning services by executing a Service Level Agreement (SLA) between Spanco and the directorate for the entire period of contract.
