Crompton Greaves is one of the largest Indian companies in engineering. It manufactures high capacity transformers which are dispatched to clients located all over India through 3PL.

Each transformer is dispatched along with its sets of accessories. These accessories are dispatched separately in multiple trucks

Key Challenges

Crompton Greaves wanted a solution which notified short supply of accessories and gave the real-time update of the movement of accessories across various departments.

Crompton Greaves required web based solution to access reports across all departments. It also wanted to reduce manual work for preparing reports, updating 'Loading file', SAP etc.

Other objectives of the solution were
Reduction in verbal co-ordination between various departments.
Transparent work-flow

Solution offered
RFID based solution comprised of HF RFID Readers in the form of Bins and RFID re-usable tags
RFID bins were placed at strategic locations in various departments.
Tags were attached to accessories before going to the Packing & Dispatch department (P&D)
At P&D department, these tags were detached from the accessories and dropped in the respective RFID bins at specific        stages in the process
Real-Time system generated reports on the inventory movement across various departments were made available to the         relevant users.
System generated regular & escalating reminders on the short supplied items resulted in better control over short supply
